Southwark – Place-Based Research & Type Design
This project explores Southwark as a source of inspiration for visual and typographic research. Developed as part of the Design Fundamentals module at London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA), the project combines historical research, site photography, and editorial design to investigate how architecture, signage, and public spaces contribute to the visual identity of the borough. The research has been used to create a unique typeface inspired by Southwark, specifically the Tower of the Tate Modern Museum; the form, size and construction of the Tower has provided the basis for the typographic design.
